Adler & Conkright Fine Art was founded in 2003 as the result of the merger between Rachel Adler Fine Art and Charles Conkright Fine Art.
This recent venture expands the scope of both former galleries by bringing together Mrs. Adler's specialization in early 20th-century European, American and Latin American avant-garde movements with Mr. Conkright's primary focus on the same geographic areas but during the post-war II period.
Among the movements we cover are Italian Futurism, Russian Avant-Garde, Cubism, Cercle et Carre, Dada, Austrian Kineticism, the Cologne Progressives, Madi/Arte Concreto, Group Zero, Nouveau Realism and Op and Kinetic art.
As part of our presentation in Art fair such as Art Basel Miami Beach, The Art Show and the Armory Modern we like to show the relationship between the early avant-gardes with subsequent art movements that although differing in philosophy, have been influenced and found their roots in the vocabulary proposed by the earlier artists.
Our colleagues and clients know and respect our expertise and knowledge in this area of modern art as well as our understanding of the marketplace. We have placed works in the Museum of Modern Art (New York), Yale University Art Gallery (New Haven), The Art Institute of Chicago, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, IVAM (Valencia), National Gallery of Australia (Canberra) and the Musee d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris and other institutions. We work very closely with private collectors in Europe, Latin and Central America, Australia and North America. We also advise in the formation of 20th century historical collections.
We are members of the Art Dealers Association of America, an organization promoting "the highest standards of connoisseurship, scholarship and ethical practice within the profession".
About Rachel Adler
Rachel Adler founded her first gallery in 1966 in Caracas, Venezuela under the name Galeria Conkright. In association with Hirschl & Adler, NY and Galerie Rene Drouet, Paris, the gallery promoted the works of Venezuelan artists as well as the work of established XXth century masters from the United States and Europe. In this last role Mrs. Adler was instrumental in the development of important private collections. Since 1979 Rachel Adler has operated a gallery in New York and has held numerous individual exhibitions of artists like Alexander Archipenko, Jean Arp, Erwin Blumenfeld, Carlo Carra, Jean Helion, Erika Giovanna Klien, Francis Picabia, Alejandro Xul Solar and Kirill Zdanevich.
About Charles Conkright
Following a brief period working as an architect, Charles Conkright began his art career as a specialist and senior cataloguer at Christie's Latin American Department, eventually becoming department head at the Christie's East location.
From 1996 to 2003 he was sales director at James Goodman Gallery, NY specializing in modern American post-war artists.
